Feature Friday: Local Brand

Feature Friday is a new series we’re starting here on the Chelsea Lane & Co. blog. We carry a lot of great independent brands in store and decided it would be a good idea to showcase a little bit about them. Every month we’ll feature a few brands and include a small interview so you can get a glimpse of how the magic happens. All items mentioned in these posts are available for sale in our West Palm Beach store, so stop by and check it out!

First up on our list is Local Brand, a lifestyle and apparel company that got started right here in our backyard. We recently started carrying their products in our shop and couldn’t be more excited. So we thought there’s no better way to introduce them to everyone than to dedicate an entire post to them and their company! Find out where the inspiration came from and much more below.

We sat down with the talent behind Local Brand, Frankie, and here’s what he told us…

Chelsea Lane & Company: Tell us a little bit about Local Brand?
Local Brand: We are a Lifestyle/Apparel brand built specifically for Locals!

CL&Co: Who/what inspired the start of the brand?
LB: My business partner and I have spent the last 10 years building companies for other people. When we launched we knew we were on to something and we have been working as hard as possible to continue the growth.

CL&Co: Why the name “Local Brand”?
LB: It’s what we are. Whether you were born here or migrated here, if you "Live like a Local", you are one.

CL&Co: Did you always know you wanted to start an apparel company?
LB: Apparel has always been a goal of mine but, as an entrepreneur, I have many business goals. Brand development is by far my favorite.

CL&Co: What motivates you to keep things going?
LB: Of course we all want to make money to take care of our families and provide a good life for the people who depend on us. But, we also want to give back to the community. We have a series of charitable events between now and Christmas. October we are raising awareness for breast cancer through “Happygram” which is a documentary made to spread knowledge about dense breast tissue and the high rate of issues that mammograms miss. November we will be donating apparel and food to the homeless. December we will be hosting a large toy drive in Lake Wales, and the toys will then be donated to children's hospitals around the state!

CL&Co: Where do you see your brand in 5 years?
LB: In 5 years, we want to be the most influential brand in the state promoting a culture and lifestyle that translates who we are.

Guide to: Your Chicest Halloween Yet!

Halloween Decor
Halloween is right around the corner and for those of us who are last minute decorators, there are a few items we think will do just the trick! Instead of going the spooky and gory route this year, try a new approach to your decorating. We’ve come up with some of our favorite pieces to help inspire you this season.

Everyone knows Halloween is all about orange, black, pumpkins and skulls, but here are some ways these items can go from scary to chic.

1. Skulls:
Halloween Decor
What’s Halloween without skulls? Nothing! However, skulls don’t have to be ugly and frightening, they can be pretty glamorous believe it or not. Add a gold or textured skull into the mix and it’ll instantly transform your d├ęcor.

2. Pumpkins

Rather than having to deal with the mess of carving silly faces, try decorating their exteriors instead. A huge trend in pumpkin decorating is using chalkboard paint then drawing on them. Others ways to decorate can be by adding glitter and mixing & matching colors; the possibilities are endless!

3. Wallpaper:
Halloween Decor

For those that want to go the extra mile, wallpaper is a great option to include. Now don’t worry, these aren’t your average wallpapers. They come in different textures and prints, but two that are perfect for Halloween are the black skull and geometric prints. [Both are available for order at www.chelsealaneandco.com ]

Of course, there are tons of other options available to transform your Halloween, but these are just a few ideas to get inspiration.

Happy decorating!
